One of our receptive language questions at work is: "Is Halloween in the month of March?" Of course that's asking much older people who've had strokes or Dementia! Well, our boys were looking at pictures and saw their Halloween costumes and asked to dress up like penguins! This is the first time they've ever asked to dress up, so I thought it was cute! Well, they ask for certain clothes a lot and one of those is their Gamecocks basketball jersey outfits, but I don't think it's for dressing up, I think it's just because they love 'em!
Of course as soon as they got the sweatshirts on, Cade asked for the hats and Carson asked for the buckets! Complete! But what goes in the buckets?
Oh yeah, they remembered that, too! They got suckers in their buckets this time and had me open them right away to go ahead and eat while sitting right there like good little penguins!
On another day this week, they made this fort in the living room!
They love to play together! Cade especially loves to line stuff up and say choo choo tracks or choo choo train. Carson especially loves to grab pretend items and hand them to Cade to share. They both pretend so much - it's hilarious to hear them play and what they're talking about when they play. The other day when Kevin and I were working on a project in the yard, they were each playing with one end of the water hose "putting out the fire" like little firefighters!
They never cease to amaze me or amuse me! I keep thinking they're doing so great with their language skills, and then they'll show me more. Maybe they'll be writers!!! They say all the small words now that they were always leaving out like: in, the, a, is, etc. So cool! So "What that" changed to "What is that!" It has totally increased their mean length of utterance (MLU). The longest sentence that I've counted was nine words long! "I don't see any boats on the water either!"

I forgot to mention the singing in any previous posts. They've recently started singing more songs! They'll sing along with us now on lots of songs - not at church yet, but in the car or at home. They've started to make up some or have me make up songs for them. I may have mentioned on here that they love doggies and firetrucks the best of all things! Well, they must've started a couple months ago (around the time they turned 2) always requesting doggie songs at night before bed. You know there aren't a lot of doggie songs out there. We'd sing the parts of the ones that we knew, but one day Kevin decided to substitute in "doggie" for spider in the Itsy Bitsy Spider! It has been requested every night since. Sometimes it is sung with doggie, sometimes puppy! Tying things in here - the boys also like helicopters and when the big fire was in Myrtle Beach we talked a lot about firefighters and keeping us safe, etc. They also learned about the huge helicopters that filled up in the lakes and dropped water on the fire.

Well, on the cruise every night, I would lay with the boys before they fell asleep! (In that little twin bed, yeah, I know! But we actually fit fine. They don't sprawl out until after they're out!) So we would read books and sing just like at home in the cribs. The first night Carson's creative request was: "Sing, 'Puppies' Helicopter'" It was requested every night on Mickey's boat, but has not been requested since! Guess it was just a vacation thing! Anyway, here's the words (I made up - gonna be a big hit some day, so watch for it):

Then we made cupcakes! Cade is in the middle of saying Daddy likes the beaters!
They wouldn't get out of the highchairs until the cupcakes were baked and cooled off!
For some crazy reason they asked for water, so I took their juice cups away and gave them water! 
This is Cade saying: I want to share with CarCar! Of course, Carson said no!
Then the boys wanted to take pictures with the camera! Carson still looks like you even with the upper part of his head gone!
Carson may be a slightly better photographer! Both of them are working on some serious cupcake bellies!
